Abstract

Selat Baru Beach requires a rescue boat to assist in the rescue and evacuation of victims at sea. This study aims to design and construct a rescue boat made from a combination of plywood and fiberglass, tailored to the specific needs of Selat Baru Beach. The methodology employed includes a literature review, surveys and interviews, determination of principal dimensions, creation of General Arrangement (GA) and Lines Plans, analysis using Maxsurf software, and boat construction via the hand lay-up method. The design yielded a boat with a length of 4 m, a breadth of 2 m, a depth of 0.45 m, and a draft of 0.15 m. Stability analysis results indicate a maximum GZ value of 0.518–0.519 m at a maximum angle of 29.1°, and an initial GMt of 2.171 m. Based on the analysis, the boat demonstrates good stability and complies with the IMO A.749(18) criteria applied in this study. The designed boat is expected to serve as a vital asset for safety and rescue operations in the Selat Baru Beach area.
