Abstract
The role of the KSOP Office is very important in providing ship seaworthiness certificates, sailing permits, safety and security, as well as all sea transport shipping activities in Indonesian waters. This study aims to find out (1) To find out the main role of the KSOP office in dealing with accidents in Batam waters, (2) To find out the main role of the KSOP office in dealing with accidents in Batam waters This research method is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Qualitative descriptive research is research that aims to describe and describe events and phenomena that occur in the field and present data in a systematic, factual, and accurate manner regarding facts or phenomena that occur in the field. Data collection was carried out by observation, interview and documentation techniques. The results of the study show (1) the Port Authority and Port Authority Office (KSOP) has a major role in carrying out supervision and law enforcement in the field of shipping safety and security, coordinating government activities at ports as well as regulating, controlling and supervising port activities at ports that are managed independently commercial. (2) With the existence of a shipping safety system and preventing ship accidents that often occur, the Ministry of Transportation continues to improve ship seaworthiness monitoring of all Indonesian-flagged ships operating in the waters of the Batam area.
