Abstract

Shipbuilding regulations in general are governed and supervised by the Classification Board or Bureau of Classification. The classification agency that exists in Indonesia is the Indonesian Classification Bureau (BKI). In the construction of a traditional wooden ship in the Merbau Island area, traditional construction is still used without Classification Board regulations. In this study aims to determine the characteristics and the smallest location of the strength of the construction with a variety of profile shapes. In this study, the authors used a type of wood, namely Laban wood, for the results obtained from the academic version of the Ansys Student R2 2020 software simulation. The results of testing on variations in profile shapes using static structural simulations with several models show that the strength of profile variations on the analysis ship 2 equivalent von-mises with a value of 10.89 (Mpa) and bending stress with a value of 11.74 (Mpa) is more accurate for used compared to the existing ship and analysis ship 1. The stress of the analysis ship 2 does not exceed the allowable stress for timber of 14.69 (Mpa)
