Abstract
General Sudirman road is one of the main roads in Dumai City which has an important role in supporting vehicle mobility. The U-turn facility on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman is a means used by vehicles to cross over to other road networks. However, one of the problems that often occurs is that vehicles making U-turns at intersections do not follow driving rules, which can cause traffic conflicts. This study aims to evaluate the performance of road sections and the performance of the U-turn in front of the PLN office as well as the illegal U-Turn at DIC 3 intersection, by planning a new U-turn in front of Awal Bross Hospital so that vehicles do not make U-turns at the intersection. The methodology used in this research is PKJI 2023 and Bina Marga 06/BM/2005. From the results of the evaluation of the U-Turn in front of the PLN office, the queue length obtained on Monday with a peak hour of 23m with a delay time of 11.5 seconds. this shows that there are no significant obstacles and the traffic flow is smooth. And the results of the U-Turn planning obtained a turning radius of 12.8, a median opening width of 25.6 meters, and the selection of the type of U-turn median opening is carried out using a type of U-turn in the middle of the road section with a U-turn movement from the inside lane to the second lane of the opposing lane.
