Abstract

Currently, composite materials are alternative materials for metal replacement, therefore new breakthroughs are expected to be a way out for the continuous supply of raw materials in the shipping industry. The author's purpose of conducting research is to determine the compressive strength of plywood composite materials based on the orientation of carbon fiber based on an epoxy matrix. The method used is in accordance with the reference to the quality of the ship's material strength using the standard. From the results of the tests that have been carried out, the highest average compressive strength occurs in specimens with layer 3 and layer 5 with an average compressive stress of 130,193 N/mm² and 214,854 N/mm².
