Abstract
his study describes the effect of composite particles as reinforcement on the tensile and bending strength of polyester composites. Composites were made using a weight variation of 3 grams and 7 grams of composite particles with polyester resin. The mixing of the powder particles was done using the stirring method for 5 minutes. The tensile test specimens were made using the ASTM D638-14 type 1 standard and the bending test with the ASTM C393 type 2 standard. 3 grams of 14,343; and the tensile strength of pure polyester is 32,811. The lowest value was found in the 7 gram composition, and the highest value was found in pure polyester. The strain value is 0.0061 where the strain value does not change in each specimen variation and the elastic modulus value in the tensile test is 1847.104 for the 7 gram variation, the 3 gram variation is 2366,652 and for the pure polyester resin variation is 5413,801. The results of the bending test on the tensile strength are 22,778 for a variation of 3 grams, 27,563 for a variation of 7 grams, and for pure polyester resin of 46,573. The bending value of the elastic modulus of strength is 453.525 for a variation of 3 grams, 582,975 for a variation of 7 grams and for pure polyester resin of 453.525. From the test results obtained a comparison of the tensile strength between the sesame powder and the specimen without the sesame powder following the comparison test obtained on the tensile stress strength: variation of pure polyester resin with a ratio of 100%, variation of 7 grams with a ratio of 41% and variation of 3 grams of sesame powder with a ratio of 51 %. The comparison of the tensile strength in the flexural test with the variation of polyester resin is 100% and the variation of 7 grams with a ratio of 66% and the variation of 3 grams is 56%. From the research results, it can be seen that the effect of particle composition is that the more the composition of the sesai powder, the greater the stress strength. On the other hand, in the bending test stress strength, it can be said that the more sesai powder, the lower the stress value.
