Abstract
The purpose of the final project is to find out the implementation of optimizing the maintenance of safety equipment as a support for the safety of the crew of the Tugboat BIMA X. The method used in this study was data collection by means of interviews and this research was carried out for 2 months, from May to July. The results of this study found that safety equipment did not function optimally when used in training on the Tugboat BIMA X due to a lack of understanding of the real maintenance procedures. Safety equipment in accordance with safety equipment maintenance regulations according to Solas (Safety Of Life Sea at sea) and because of the lack of facilities for maintenance of safety equipment provided by the company so that maintenance activities are not optimal. Safety equipment maintenance methods, because safety equipment maintenance methods are the basis for increasing efficiency in optimizing the activities of safety equipment on board so that these safety equipment can be used optimally by all crew members in the event of an emergency on board
