Abstract
Brake pads are one component of a motorcycle that functions to slow down or stop the motorbike's pace comfortably. So the researchers wanted to know the value of wear and hardness of motorcycle brake linings and made samples of motorcycle brake linings using environmentally friendly composite materials with several variations in material composition. The materials used in this study were coconut fiber powder, areca nut fiber powder, resin and hardener as a hardener. Making brake pads is obtained by mixing all the ingredients and molding them for several hours so they harden. Tests carried out include wear tests. The brake lining material in this study was tested for wear and tear with variations in the material content presented in the test flow chart. Data obtained from testing the highest wear rate of brake pads with a composition of 25% coconut fiber powder25% areca nut fiber and 50% resin with a value of 8.26 x 〖10〗^(-6)gram/〖mm〗^2.second. Whereas for 40% coconut fiber powder 10% areca nut fiber powder and50% resin the lowest has a value of 1.98 x〖10〗^(-6)gram/〖mm〗^2.second.
