Abstract
Ships have durability and appropriate time limits, therefore ship owners or shipping companies are required to know the due date of periodic surveys which aim to ensure that a ship has proper safety standards for its crew and cargo. However, in reality the problems that occur with ship owners or shipping companies do not know about and pay little attention to the maturity of the periodic survey of ships, so they are worried about ships sailing with status protection (suspend), therefore it is necessary to know the inhibiting factors for ship owners or shipping companies to fall period of periodic monitoring of the ship. One of the decision-making methods is to evaluate the most important criteria in a problem so that alternative decisions can be made from each criterion, namely by using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, which can solve complex multi-criteria problems into a hierarchy. With a hierarchy, a complex problem can be broken down into groups which are then arranged into a hierarchy so that the problem will appear more structured and systematic.tahan From the results of the research, it was found that cost alternatives were the main cause of obstacles in the periodic surveillance process and ship maintenance processes.
