Abstract
The process of peeling areca nut by the people of Bengkalis Regency is still mostly done manually using a pick, this can be slow and takes a long time. Therefore, we need to modify the existing tools to be more perfect so that it is easier and faster for people to work on peeling areca nuts. The aims of this study were to analyze the effect of drying time on the yield of dried areca nut peeling and to modify the existing areca peeling machine. The method used is to conduct a field study and then conduct a literature study and start designing modifications as well as collecting data and materials to be used in the process of modifying the tool. From the results of the study with 2 kg of dried areca nut, the most peeled and good quality wereca nut was obtained, namely 1.091 kg and 0.07 kg of unpeeled betel nut with a stripping time of 21 seconds. Quality areca nut obtained at the engine speed of 1600 rpm
