Abstract

Citronella (Cymbopogon nardus) is a spice plant, usually used as a cooking spice and medicine. Essential oil from lemongrass can be produced using various methods, for example extraction. The advantage of this method is that it does not require high temperatures, so the oil will not be easily damaged. Therefore, effective and innovative boilers and material tanks were created that can produce essential oils with good yield results. The method for designing and making a distillator machine begins with a process of observation in the field, books, journals related to making a boiler as a tool for heating water and a material tank as a container for lemongrass leaf material. The concept carried out design calculations and design drawings using inventor and manufacturing software, and testing in the use of boiler equipment and material tanks. The result of the design of the boiler and evaporation tank is that the evaporation process from the boiler to the material tank runs well and the process is efficient and can produce oil. essential oils with lots of quality and quantity
