Abstract

In the modern era, knowledge is no longer obtained solely from libraries. It is also acquired through the Internet and various other media, including films. Films offer opportunities to explore different aspects of life, such as life lessons, romance, history, and business. Many films depict journeys in the business world, offering valuable insights for entrepreneurs seeking to build and expand their enterprises. One such example is the film The Founder. The study aims to determine what business communication techniques are employed by the main character in the film “The Founder (2016).” The design of this study is descriptive qualitative research. The instrument used is an observation, where the main character, Ray Kroc and Harry J Sonneborn, in the film The Founder (2016) is the main object of the study. The results of the study have been collected in 22 scenes in Ray Kroc Techniques and 4 scenes from Harry J Sonneborn techniques in the film “The Founder (2016)”. The study's conclusion shows that the business communication strategies used by the main characters in the film are redundancy, informative, persuasive, educational, and coercive. It shows that Ray Kroc's communication techniques include 10 instances of redundancy, 9 of informative, 15 of persuasive, 1 of educative, and 2 of coercive. In contrast, Harry J. Sonnerborn employs 3 informative, 1 persuasive, and 1 educative techniques. Therefore, it can be concluded that the most frequently used communication technique by the main characters in this film is the persuasive technique.
