Abstract

This study aims the to determine the application of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and understanding of halal certificate to develop micro, small, medium enterprises (MSMEs). This research as conducted using descriptive qualitative methods, which are systematically explained and described clearly and accurately. The data collection techniques used in this study were interviews, observation and documentation. The results showed that location, building, production equipment, materials, processing, packaging, labeling and storage can create a consistent and high quality final product but not all aspects can be fulfilled so that it provides an opportunity for contamination of the final product produced. Business actor realized the importance of halal certification for consumers and strive to meet the halal certification requirements set by BPJPH. With the implementation of GMP and understanding of halal certificates, business actors can feel the increase in consumer confidence and income in Bengkalis MSMEs.
