Abstract

Bengkalis Regency, especially East Bantan Sub-district, has extensive coconut plantations. Coconut shell, as a waste from coconut processing, can be processed into coconut shell charcoal which is used for briquette making. One of the entrepreneurs, Mr. Misran, faces obstacles in smoothing coconut shell charcoal because he does not have a suitable machine. This opens up opportunities for innovation in the manufacture of a coconut shell charcoal smoothing machine. This machine is designed to turn coconut shell into fine particles using a rotating knife driven by a 1 hp electric motor with a vertical drive shaft. Tests were conducted with capacities of 5, 10, 15, and 20 kg. The results of this machine are expected to speed up the charcoal smoothing process, increase production capacity, and meet the standard needs of particles for briquette making. This coconut shell charcoal smoothing machine will provide significant benefits to small-medium enterprises by improving production efficiency and briquette quality.
