Abstract

Good surface quality in the machining process including the turning process is influenced by the cutting parameters (cutting speed, feeding motion, and depth of cut). researchers can conclude the problem formula, namely How does the effect of spindle speed variation, depth of cut variation and coolant variation on the surface roughness value of ST 37 steel using a 4 flute HSS Quantitative data analysis techniques (data-based) and using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). ANOVA calculations are carried out to determine what parameters and levels have the most effect on surface roughness. by using “Minitab Data Analysis” software. the highest roughness price is found in water cooling. spindle rotation (rpm) 550 with a depth of incision of 1 mm has a surface roughness value of 5.181 µm. While the lowest roughness value is found in air cooling. Spindle rotation (rpm) 767 with an incision depth of 0.5 mm, has a surface roughness value of 2.666 µm. It is recommended to conduct further research with wider variations in cutting parameters and other types of coolants to explore more optimal results.
