Abstract

Waste cooking oil, commonly derived from various types of frying oils such as corn oil, vegetable oil, and ghee, is typically a byproduct of household usage. While it can be reused for culinary purposes, from a chemical composition standpoint, waste cooking oil contains carcinogenic compounds that form during the frying process. When improperly discarded, this oil can flow into water channels, altering the water's composition and rendering it unfit for use. This problem has led to the idea of designing a biodiesel production device with a capacity of 30 liters using waste cooking oil. The objective is to design a 30-liter capacity biodiesel device and to determine the quantity of biodiesel produced from the constructed device. This device is designed to mix raw waste cooking oil with methanol and a KOH catalyst, which are stirred in a tank and heated using a gas stove. The device is equipped with a speed controller for the mixer. The results were obtained after testing.
