Abstract
The process of selecting the chairman of the Student Executive Board at the Bengkalis State Polytechnic is still carried out conventionally, namely using ballot paper and vote counting is still done manually. Not only that, there are still some students who do not exercise their right to vote and do not participate in the election of the chairman of the Student Executive Board. To overcome this problem, an e-voting application for the election of the chairman of the Student Executive Board at the Bengkalis State Polytechnic was built based on a website. Therefore, a solution is needed according to needs by making it easier for students to exercise their right to vote and participate in the election. By changing the old electoral system into an online voting system or e-voting. E-voting is a voting process that utilizes electronic media. So that with the e-voting system it can speed up and make it easier for students to use their voting rights. This research proposes an E-voting Application for the Selection of the Chairperson of the Student Executive Board at the Bengkalis State Polytechnic based on a website designed using the PHP and MySQL programming languages as database management systems. It is hoped that this application can assist students in exercising their voting rights and participating in the election of the chairman of the Student Executive Board. Application testing is done by testing every feature on the system and has been tested on 1 admin and 5 users. Where the admin is a member of the KPR and the user is a student. The results of the trial of this application show that the election process will be easier because this election website can be accessed by users not only through laptops but can also be accessed via smartphones.
