Abstract

A good and usable 3-phase motor is needed in the industrial world, therefore a digital tachometer is needed to calibrate the motor. A digital tachometer is a measuring instrument used to measure the rotational speed of a motor. This tachometer will be tested for function compared to using a Digital Laser Photo Tachometer. This tachometer will display the number of rotations per minute of a motor according to the speed setting on the centrifuge using the output of this IR sensor which will later be processed by the Arduino Nano. It has data storage and charging features, besides that the user can also charge it after use or before use. In testing the tool used setting points of 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, and 12000 RPM. Based on the results of measurements from the centrifuge in the previous study using a tachometer module and a comparison tachometer, the average percentage of error is different at each setting point. The smallest error is 2.6 % at the 3000 RPM setting point, while the biggest error is 4.6 % at the 1000 RPM setting point. The tachometer error value in this motor measurement is still within the tolerance limit, which is ± 5 %.
