Abstract

Areca nut is one of the palm plants that has many benefits, especially seeds. Areca nut is widely used as the main raw material in the process of making medicines, cosmetics, slimming, snacks, sweets, and coffee. Processing areca nutis still constrained by a simple tool, which still uses a knife made of wood to split the nut into two parts. To overcome this problem, a betel-breaking machine is needed. The design of this machine is expected to help farmers when processing betel nuts into dried betel nuts. The working principle of a betel-breaking machine starts from an electric motor that generates rotations which are passed to the padducer and then to the cutting blades which are connected by two gears. The existence of this machine is expected to help farmers in processing fruit, so that work is lighter, faster and can prevent accidents and the price is much cheaper.
