Abstract
Along with the development of an increasingly rapid era, there will always be a need for tools that make it easier for humans to carry out their daily lives. The purpose of this research is to design a prototype for detecting the presence of people in an Arduino-based boarding bathroom. The results of this study are the device can be operated using Arduino Uno as a control and the program uses Arduino IDE software, a passive infrared sensor to detect any movement in or out of the bathroom, a liquid crystal display to display whether or not people are in the bathroom. boarding house, light emitting diode as a notification about the state of the bathroom being used what is not installed in each boarding room, then pressing the function button to ring the bell warning the use of the bathroom for too long. If both bathrooms are empty or only one bathroom is used, the push button is not activated when pressed, and if both bathrooms are used, the push button is activated when pressed. Passive infrared sensor testing is only able to detect as far as 4 meters, from the initial specifications of the sensor, which is ± 7 meters and the difference is 3% from the pir sensor distance test. The pear distance sensor can be adjusted according to the distance required.
