Abstract

The increasing number of vehicles making traffic today is very crowded especially in big cities. Therefore we need a tool that can adjust the duration of traffic lights automatically based on the number of vehicles in each lane. To control more effective traffic lights requires a device that can detect the presence of vehicles in every path. This device works using lasers and photodiodes as a traffic sensing detector and an Arduino Mega 2560 microcontroller programmed in C language. If the sensor detects the number of vehicles, the traffic light system will adjust the duration of the appropriate traffic lights detected by the sensor. From the results of the combination testing on the first system was done two-lane test there is a percentage error of 11.1%. Three-lane test on the system error percentage sebsesar 12.5%, four-lane test on the system error percentage of 13.3%.
