Abstract
The Civil Engineering Building of Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis is a conventional building with high electricity consumption due to the excessive use of air conditioning (AC) and inadequate waste management. This study aims to formulate a design concept for upgrading the conventional building into a green building based on the PUPR Regulation No. 02/PRT/M/2015, and to calculate the estimated conversion cost. The method used is descriptive quantitative, including analysis of the existing conditions, design planning, and cost estimation. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and document review, focusing on energy efficiency (lighting and air conditioning) and waste management. Replacing conventional AC units with Daikin Inverter R32 Star units resulted in an energy saving of 3,837.85 kWh per month. For waste management, the design proposes the provision of segregated waste bins and user education programs. The total estimated conversion cost is IDR 507,436,500. Overall, this study provides a comprehensive design and cost reference for transforming a conventional building into a green building, achieving significant energy savings and contributing to sustainable development.
