Abstract
Selat Baru Beach in Bengkalis Regency is a coastal area that is vulnerable to abrasion due to the energy of large ocean waves. To overcome this, a Breakwater structure has been built as a coastal protection effort. However, the existing condition of the Breakwater at the research location shows a geometry that is starting to slope due to continuous wave impacts, so that performance evaluation and redesign of the structure are needed. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Breakwater armor in reducing wave energy and analyzing the effect of dimensional variations on structural performance. Testing was carried out physically in the laboratory using a scale model on a flume tank with two variations of Breakwater slope, namely 1: 1.72 (initial dimension) and 1: 1.14 (variation dimension), as well as two water level conditions: normal tide 6.97 cm and peak tide 7.5 cm. The measured data include the height of incoming waves and waves that pass (Hi and Ht), then calculated the value of the wave transmission coefficient (Kt), wavelength (Lo), wave propagation velocity (Co), Iribaren number (Ir), and Run-up height (Ru). Test results showed that varying the breakwater dimensions with a slope of 1:1.14 reduced the Kt value to 0.367 under normal tide conditions, compared to 0.43 with the initial dimensions. The Iribaren value also increased, indicating improved structural stability against waves.
