Abstract

The Road Improvement project heavily relies on heavy equipment for efficiency. However, obstacles have led to delays. This research analyzes the causes of delays and the productivity of heavy equipment in road paving work using FMEA, SCAT, and Pareto methods. The results indicate material delays and equipment breakdowns as primary factors. Heavy equipment productivity in AC–BC work shows significant differences between effective and actual conditions. Under effective conditions, dump trucks achieve 1.15 m³/hour, asphalt finishers 94.34 tons/hour, tandem rollers 16.52 m³/hour, and pneumatic tired rollers 8.44 m³/hour. However, actual productivity decreased, especially for dump trucks and pneumatic tired rollers. To overcome delays, the number of dump trucks was increased from 5 to 12 units, and pneumatic tired rollers from 1 to 2 units. AC–WC work was only analyzed under effective conditions. Cost analysis shows a need for IDR 226,349,200 for effective conditions and IDR 249,301,800 for intensification conditions. These findings are expected to be a consideration for future project schedule control heavy equipment planning.
