Abstract

The increasing volume of concrete waste from construction demolition poses a significant environmental issue that requires immediate attention. One proposed solution is the utilization of recycled aggregates as a substitute material in new concrete mixtures. This study aims to analyze the durability of concrete by using 20% recycled coarse aggregate and adding 1% Sika ViscoCrete-3115 N by weight of cement. The research was conducted at the Material Testing Laboratory of Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis using an experimental method with cylindrical specimens. The parameters tested included compressive strength, shrinkage, and concrete porosity at the ages of 7, 28, and 56 days, with a target concrete strength of 20 MPa. The results showed that the addition of Sika ViscoCrete-3115 N significantly increased compressive strength at 56 days, reaching 37.85 MPa, compared to concrete with recycled aggregate without additives, which only reached 25.77 MPa. Furthermore, the use of this additive effectively reduced shrinkage and porosity values. This improvement is due to the ability of Sika ViscoCrete-3115 N to fill voids and reduce air pores within the concrete mix, thereby increasing the density and overall strength of the concrete. In conclusion, the combination of recycled aggregate and additive has been proven to significantly enhance concrete quality.
