Abstract
Teluk-Latak Village, Bengkalis District, is an area highly vulnerable to inundation and flooding during the rainy season. This phenomenon is exacerbated by high rainfall intensity, peatland conditions that make it difficult to absorb water, and limited drainage channel capacity. This study aims to analyze the feasibility of existing drainage channels to accommodate runoff from rainfall with a specific return period. The study was conducted along Jalan Smpn 07 Bengkalis, Jalan Darat Ujung, and Gang Masjid. The method used was a hydrological and hydraulic approach, with design discharge calculations using the Rational method and a Log Pearson Type III probability distribution. The analysis results indicate that the existing channel capacity is only 0.8657 m³/second, while the design flood discharge for a 5-year return period reaches 2.5407 m³/second on the left side and 1.8563 m³/second on the right side. Therefore, the channel is unable to accommodate runoff during extreme rainfall and is declared hydraulically unfit.
