Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of carbonation and reinforcement corrosion on the flexural capacity of reinforced concrete floor slabs. Two slab specimens were prepared: a control slab and a slab exposed to accelerated carbonation and corrosion using 4% carbonate solution and 3% NaCl with electric current for ±15 days. Carbonation testing using phenolphthalein showed a carbonation depth of 5 mm. Corrosion testing indicated a steel mass loss of 12.31%. Flexural testing was conducted using a single-point load method. Theoretical flexural capacities were 37.33 kN for the control slab and 32.81 kN for the corroded slab. Experimental results were higher, reaching 51.70 kN and 42.00 kN, respectively
