Abstract
The condenser is one of the main components in the distillation process which functions to convert steam into liquid through a heat transfer mechanism. Condenser efficiency greatly influences the quality and quantity of essential oil produced, especially in the distillation of essential oil from galam leaves. This research aims to analyze heat transfer in the condenser to increase distillation efficiency. The research method used is a theoretical and analytical approach. The parameters analyzed include the inlet and outlet temperatures of the cooling fluid, fluid flow rate, and heat transfer efficiency. In addition, optimal fluid flow design in shell and tube systems is able to reduce thermal energy losses and increase cooling capacity. This research is able to predict condenser performance without the need for physical experiments in the laboratory to obtain more efficient condenser performance, especially for applications in distillation equipment. essential oil. The proposed design can be used by small and medium industries (IKM) to improve the quality and productivity of essential oils, as well as being a reference in developing more efficient distillation systems.
