Abstract

The centrifugal pump is a vital industrial machine, and impeller damage can cause significant economic losses and operational disruptions. This research aims to identify vibration characteristics, determine the most effective parameters, and integrate the findings into a routine maintenance program. The methodology involved measuring vibration on the pump casing using a Vibration Monitoring tool. The raw vibration data on the horizontal (X), vertical (Y), and axial (Z) axes was processed using a MATLAB program to calculate Root Mean Square (RMS) values. The results were then compared against the ISO 10816-3 standard to classify the vibration condition. The analysis results show significant vibration amplitudes on each axis, with the X-axis having the lowest amplitude (-10 to 10), the Y-axis being higher (15 to 35), and the Z-axis the highest (30 to 45). The calculated RMS values were 4.268 mm/s for the X axis, 28.107 mm/s for the Y-axis, and 38.704 mm/s for the Z-axis. Based on the ISO 10816-3 standard, the X-axis is in Zone C (Short-term operation allowable), while the Y and Z axes are in Zone D (Vibration causes damage). In conclusion, vibration analysis proves effective in detecting critical impeller conditions, enabling more efficient repair planning, reducing downtime, and extending the pump's service life.
