Abstract
Bengkalis State Polytechnic, through the AIS Team, developed an Application Programming Interface (API) service on the existing Automatic Identification System (AIS) to add new features for providing Access to AIS data, which was previously only available in raw form. This development aims to support the creation of multiplatform applications for monitoring ship traffic in the Strait of Malacca. The API features include Access to all vessel data, vessel data based on MMSI, class, AIS type, channel, and port, as well as the latest data for each MMSI. To ensure security, the system implements role-based Login, token-based authorization, and user Activity logging. The development method used is the waterfall model, covering problem identification, data collection, system design, implementation, and testing. The application was built using PHP with the Laravel 11 framework and a MySQL database. Testing results show that the API system operates well, supports data Access using tokens, and is responsive across various devices and browsers. This service greatly assists developers in Accessing AIS data digitally and efficiently, and it can be further developed into the official AIS Polbeng data service to support maritime information digitalization.
