Abstract
Post-harvest handling of coffee beans, particularly during drying and storage, highly depends on the moisture level of the beans. Excessive moisture can lead to mold growth and quality degradation, while overly dry beans may lose their flavor profile. This study aims to design an Internet Of Things (IoT)-based system for monitoring the moisture content of Robusta coffee beans in real-time. The system utilizes a capacitive soil moisture sensor v2.0 connected to an ESP8266 microcontroller to measure moisture levels, which are then converted into estimated water content. The results are displayed on an LCD screen and sent to firebase Realtime Database for online access via a web dashboard. Data is stored along with time and date information for historical tracking. Testing shows that the system can reliably read and transmit moisture data, while also classifying the condition of the beans based on ideal moisture content standards (10–13%). This system offers a practical and efficient solution for farmers or post-harvest handlers in Siempat Rube Village to continuously monitor coffee bean quality in real-time.
