Abstract

This research is part of the Vocational Dual System Internship Program Batch 3 at PT. Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Tbk (IKPP) Perawang. The Sliding Gate Sand Blow Out is a key component in a fluidized bed boiler used to discharge combustion sand. It is prone to damage due to high temperatures and abrasive pressure. This study aims to analyze the damage, evaluate the current material (1023 Carbon Steel), and recommend a more durable alternative. Methods include field inspection, technical analysis, and thermal-mechanical simulation using SolidWorks. Three materials were tested: 1023 Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel 310, and AISI H13 Tool Steel. Results show AISI H13 had the best resistance, with 4.642 MPa maximum stress and 3.015 mm minimum displacement. AISI H13 is recommended as a replacement material for its superior durability under extreme conditions.
