Abstract
The river in Berancah Village has many bends. With this type of river morphology, water flow usually moves to a specific area on the outside of the bend. In such a situation, the water flow tries to escape, which means the water velocity on the outside of the bend is higher than on the inside of the bend. As a result, in rivers with cliffs with unstable soil conditions, landslides on the outside of the bend are likely to occur due to the continuous scouring process at the base of the bank in response to changes in the bed caused by river flow, including riverbank erosion, which
occurs due to the strong impact of the river flow on the bend. What is important is to understand the morphology of the river and the type of soil found in the river, as well as what type of construction is appropriate in that area. The methods used to achieve this goal include cross-and long-section measurements of the river, flow velocity, tidal data, and testing (hand boring).The river morphology results show a meandering river with a width of 12 m and a discharge of 2.90 m³/s. The soil is predominantly soft clay. The construction used is a groyne with a width of 3 m, a distance of 5 m between each groyne, and a depth of 2 m. This design is expected to reduce scour and maintain the stability of the riverbank.
