Abstract
This study aims to investigate the effect of the main cutting angle (Kr) on carbide tools coated with Titanium Aluminium Nitride (TiAlN) on the surface roughness of machined Aluminium 6061. The cutting parameters—cutting speed, feed rate, and depth of cut—were held constant, while the main cutting angles were varied at 70° and 80°. The experimental method was employed to examine the changes in surface roughness values based on variations in the main cutting angle. Surface roughness measurements were carried out using the Surface Roughness Tester TR200, and data analysis was conducted using the Taguchi method to evaluate the contribution of each cutting parameter to the surface roughness outcome. The results showed that the main cutting angle significantly affects surface roughness. A larger cutting angle tends to increase the surface roughness value. This research contributes to machining process optimization, particularly in selecting cutting angles to achieve the desired surface quality in the turning of Aluminium 6061.
