Abstract
The Polbeng Research Vessel is a type of research vessel and training vessel that will be used in the Department of Naval Architecture, Bengkalis State Polytechnic this vessel is
designed with basic materials from High-DensityPolyethylene (HDPE) plastic this vessel is designed for the waters of the BengkalisStrait, this need is to know the comfort of the Polbeng 1 research vessel. This study uses a direct measurement method using Accelerometer and Gyroscope sensors
found on smartphones. Data processing uses a Moving Average Filter (MAF) which is used as a filter for the measurement results. Next, the acceleration data or speed data is converted into motion data using Cumulative Trapezoidal Numerical Integration (Cumtrapz). Furthermore, the ship's motion data in the time domain is converted into the frequency domain using the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT)
method. The ship's test cases are divided into 3, namely Headseas, Quarterseas, and Beamseas. The measurement results obtained are: (i) heave motion in cases 1, 2 and 3 obtained root mean square (r.m.s) values of 0.00003m, 0.0002m and
0.00015m. (ii) The results of r.m.s roll motion in cases 1, 2 and 3 are 0.00008deg, 0.02111deg and 0.00026deg. (iii) The results of r.m.s pitch motion in cases 1, 2 and 3 are 0.00016deg, 0.00034deg and 0.000003deg. The final results show that this ship is comfortable and meets the criteria of NORTFOSK 1987, STANAG 4154, and ISO 2631 and BS 6841/1987.
