Abstract

This study aims to design and develop an environmentally friendly electric speed boat propulsion system using a 48V DC motor as the main driver and Solar Power Plant (PLTS) as the power source. The system is designed as an alternative solution to fossil fuel usage in marine transportation, particularly in coastal areas not yet reached by the national electricity grid (PLN). The main components used include solar panels, a 48V battery, a 48V DC motor, a BLDC controller, and a throttle for speed control. The motor speed is regulated using a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) system to maintain the boat’s speed stability under varying load conditions in water. Testing was carried out by observing the system’s performance under three speed conditions: low, medium, and high. The measured parameters included voltage, current, motor efficiency, and battery consumption. The results showed that the system could operate stably with good energy efficiency, and energy consumption could be controlled according to the desired speed. This system also demonstrates great potential in supporting national renewable energy programs, reducing carbon emissions, and offering low operational costs.
Based on the outcomes, the solar-powered electric speed boat system is feasible for further development as a sustainable and energy-efficient marine transportation solution.
