Abstract

Centrifugal pumps are crucial equipment at PDAM Tirta Terubuk Bengkalis, where their performance is highly dependent on the condition of the bearings. Excessive vibration in bearings is a primary indicator of damage that can lead to operational downtime. This research aims to analyze the vibration on the pump's bearings as a condition monitoring method, identify the factors causing the vibration, and formulate effective maintenance recommendations. The research method involves a field study with direct vibration measurements on the pump's bearing housing using a three-axis vibration sensor (horizontal, vertical, and axial).The raw vibration signal data obtained was then processed using MATLAB software to calculate the RMS (Root Mean Square) value and visualize the vibration characteristics. The analysis of vibration causes was conducted using a Fishbone diagram, and the results were compared with the ISO 10816-3 vibration severity standard. The analysis results show a very high and alarming level of vibration. The RMS values on the Y-axis (28.730 mm/s) and Z-axis (38.877 mm/s) fall into Zone D (Damaging), while the X-axis (4.670 mm/s) is in Zone C (Attention). These results indicate serious damage to the bearing requiring immediate action. Excessive vibration is proven to be the main cause of accelerated wear and potential premature failure of the bearing. It is recommended to perform immediate repairs, implement a condition-based maintenance strategy, and improve the quality of maintenance procedures such as alignment and lubrication to extend the pump's service life
