Abstract
In turning, wasted material is a part of the machining process that is discarded. During the turning process, material is discarded due to the rotation of the workpiece. The resulting wasted material varies in shape, including threaded lengths and small chips. This study used 82 mechanical engineering students as respondents. The data collection methods used were quantitative and observational. Analysis was conducted using the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method. The results of the analysis obtained 7 construction quality performance (PKK) which are most important for designing a press machine with each weight, namely, an angle frame with a percentage weight of 10.5%, hydraulic with a percentage weight of 10.1%, a machine life of 3 years with a percentage weight of 9.6%, using electrical energy with a percentage weight of 9%, different in and out of the press with a percentage weight of 8.2%, medium press machine size with a percentage weight of 8.1%, the machine is able to withstand pressure according to capacity with a percentage weight of 8%, a capacity of 36,000 cm3 (medium) with a percentage weight of 7.8%.
