Abstract

Subgrade soil is an important element in the construction of road access in an area, as it serves as the foundation for the subbase course and base course in a highway construction. A common problem that often occurs during road construction is that the subgrade soil's CBR (California Bearing Ratio) value is less than 3%. The method of subgrade soil improvement carried out in this study is stabilization using sand variations of 20%, 35%, and 50%. The research was conducted by applying a curing period of 0 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours, and 96 hours with the optimum moisture content from standard compaction results. The results of the research on stabilization with varying sand content showed that the highest CBR value was found in the 50% sand variation, at 2.60%, where this CBR result did not meet the requirements as a selected fill material.
