Abstract

ABSTRACT

This study was motivated by the limited workshop facilities, particularly in bending L-profile metal plates with a thickness of 1.2–2 mm. To address this issue, a bending tool for L-profile plates was designed and constructed using a 10-ton hydraulic jack press system that operates without electricity, making it cost-efficient and suitable for small-scale industries as well as educational purposes.
The research method included literature review, design development using SolidWorks software, prototype fabrication, and performance testing. Static load analysis showed a maximum stress of 182.132 MPa, well below the material’s yield strength of 351.571 MPa, indicating that the frame is structurally safe.
Testing results demonstrated the tool’s capability to produce bending angles of up to 90° with a pressure range of approximately 50–62 kg/cm², depending on plate thickness and bending length. With its robust frame design, efficient hydraulic system, and ease of operation, this tool is deemed feasible for use as a practical learning medium in mechanical engineering education and as an appropriate solution for small-scale industrial applications.
