Abstract
This research, titled "Optimization of Energy Consumption Using Variable Speed Drive (VSD)," aims to analyze the extent of electrical energy efficiency that can be
achieved by adjusting the operating frequency of a three-phase induction motor. Variable Speed Drive (VSD) is utilized as a speed control device to regulate power according to actual load demand, thereby optimizing energy consumption. The experiment was conducted by varying frequencies at 10 Hz, 20 Hz, 30 Hz, 40 Hz, and 50 Hz, and the results were compared to the condition without using a Variable Speed Drive (VSD) The results showed a significant reduction in monthly energy consumption as the frequency decreased. The highest energy consumption occurred at 50 Hz with 743.4 kWh, while the lowest was at 10 Hz with 221.7 kWh.Energy savings compared to the non Variable Speed Drive (VSD) condition (1,116 kWh) were recorded as 80.16% at 10 Hz, 65.77% at 20 Hz, 53.62% at 30 Hz, 40.64% at 40 Hz, and 31,61% at 50 Hz. These findings demonstrate that the use of Variable Speed Drive (VSD) can significantly optimize electrical energy consumption, especially in motor applications with variable loads. The implementation of Variable Speed Drive (VSD) technology is a highly effective energy efficiency strategy to reduce operational electricity costs in industrial systems.
