Abstract
This research analyzes the control loop system of the level transmitter in the water cooling tank at PT. Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Perawang. The control system is designed to maintain the stability of the water level in the cooling tank within
safe and optimal limits. The level transmitter functions as the main sensor that detects the water level in real-time and sends signals to the controller (PLC/DCS). Thecontroller then adjusts the control valve to regulate the inflow or outflow of water. The research method was carried outthrough direct testing of the system, including measuring the transmitter signal, evaluating the controller’s response, and adjusting the valve opening. The monitoringdataindicated water level fluctuations ranging from 55% to 75% during the testing period. The control system responded byautomatically adjusting the valve opening from 60% to 80%, enabling the water level to return to the desired setpoint. The results show that thcontrolloopoperateseffectivelywithoutsignificant overshoot, indicating that the PID parameter tuning has been well implemented. he conclusion of this study is that thecontrol loop system based on a level transmitter in the water cooling tank is capable of maintaining the cooling process stability automatically, quickly, and accurately. To ensure optimal performance, periodic calibration of the transmitter, continuous monitoring of PID parameters, and redundancy implementation for critical areas arerecommended. With proper management, this system can effectively support safe and efficient cooling
operations in the plant.
