Abstract

The development of automation technology enables the creation of more efficient and practical lighting systems. This study designs and implements a prototype of an automatic room lighting control system utilizing a light dependent resistor (LDR) sensor, a real time clock (RTC)-based timer module, and wireless remote control. The system is designed to automatically switch lights on and off based on ambient light intensity and a predetermined schedule, as well as to allow manual control from a distance. Test results show that the LDR sensor can accurately detect changes in light intensity, with an output voltage of 0.15 V under bright conditions and 4.99 V under dark conditions. The RTC successfully controls lighting from 18:00 to 06:00, while the RF remote control has an effective range of up to 30 meters with obstacles and 70 meters without obstacles. The system can automatically turn on the lights when the light intensity falls below the threshold or according to the set schedule, and it can still be manually controlled via the remote.
