Abstract
This Study Aims To Improve The Propulsion System Performance Of The Polbeng 2 Vessel, Which Experienced Reduced Thrust, Unstable Engine Speed, And Low Velocity Due To The Incompatibility Of The 16 Hp Dongfeng Engine With The Vessel’s Hydrodynamic Requirements. Improvements Were Carried Out By Modifying The Transmission System Through The Addition Of A 2:1 Pulley Ratio, Designed Based On Technical Calculations And Tested Through Sea Trials At Various Engine Speed Levels. The Results Show A Significant Performance Enhancement, With The Vessel’s Speed Increasing From 5 Knots To 7.50 Knots, More Responsive Acceleration, More Stable Engine Rotation, And Improved Travel Efficiency. This Modification Proved Effective In Optimizing Power Delivery And Can Serve As A Practical Solution To Improve The Performance Of Small Vessels Powered By Dongfeng Engines.
