Abstract

The Meranti–Kundur Ferry Route Experiences High Passenger Traffic, But Limited Capacity Of Conventional Vessels Often Leads To Overload And Reduced Navigational Safety. Electric Ferries Offer An Efficient And Environmentally Friendly Solution For Short-Distance Routes. This Study Aims To Design An Electric Ferry Suitable For Operational Needs, Determine The Vessel’s Main Dimensions, And Calculate Power And Battery Capacity Requirements. The Methods Used Include Field Surveys, Literature Studies, Determination Of Main Dimensions Using The Parent Design Approach, Resistance Analysis Using Maxsurf, And Energy Requirement Calculations. The Results Show That The Designed Vessel Meets Stability Standards, Passenger Capacity Needs, And Energy Efficiency Requirements. The Planned Battery Capacity Can Support 5 Hours Of Operation With A Safe Energy Reserve. The Final Design Includes The Lines Plan, General Arrangement, And A Physical Model As An Initial Representation Of The Electric Ferry For The Meranti–Kundur Route.
