Abstract

Two-stroke motorcycles, particularly those with a 110cc engine capacity, remain popular among automotive enthusiasts due to their high power output and responsive engine characteristics. One of the most influential factors affecting engine performance is the air–fuel intake system that supplies the combustion chamber. In two-stroke engines, the intake process often experiences suboptimal turbulence, which affects volumetric efficiency and overall engine performance. To address this issue, various modification methods have been developed for the intake manifold system, one of which is the use of an induction tube. This study aims to examine the implementation of an induction tube on the intake manifold of a 110cc two-stroke motorcycle and to analyze its effects on engine performance and fuel consumption. The research method used is an experimental approach with comparative testing. The tests were conducted by comparing the motorcycle in two conditions: without an induction tube (standard condition) and with induction tubes measuring 44 mm and 68 mm. The results show that the installation of an induction tube significantly affects engine performance. The 44 mm induction tube variation increases power at high engine speed but does not provide a significant improvement in torque, resulting in acceleration similar to the standard condition. In contrast, the 68 mm induction tube yields the most optimal performance improvement, with an increase in both torque and power across the entire RPM range, producing more responsive acceleration. However, both induction tube variations lead to higher fuel consumption compared to the standard condition, particularly the 68 mm variation. Overall, the use of an induction tube is proven to enhance the performance of a 110cc two-stroke engine, although it comes with a trade-off in fuel efficiency.
