Abstract

Polbeng Business Expo Chapter II is an annual program organized by the International Business Administration Study Program of Bengkalis State Polytechnic as part of students’ practical learning in event management and human resource coordination. This final project focuses on the implementation of the Spelling Bee Competition, an English word spelling contest for elementary school students (grades 1-4) and junior high school students (grades 7-9). The project aims to organize the competition professionally, enhance students' English literacy, and apply structured event-management practices through systematic planning, execution, and evaluation. The implementation followed a three-stage framework consisting of the preparation stage which involved planning human resources, setting criteria, preparing technical guidelines, and coordinating with schools the execution stage, including technical meetings, participant registration, competition procedures, and supervision, and finally the accomplishment stage, which covered documentation, assessment, and reporting. A total of 96 participants took part in the competition, which was held on May 20-22, 2025, at the Information Technology Building of Bengkalis State Polytechnic. The event proceeded smoothly due to effective coordination among committee members, judges, and supporting teams. The outcomes of this project indicate that structured planning, clear task delegation, and strong teamwork play a crucial role in ensuring the success of an educational event. This project also demonstrates how a well-designed framework supports the smooth execution of competitions, strengthens students’ interest in learning English, and reinforces Bengkalis State Polytechnic’s image as an innovative and community-oriented educational institution.
