Proses Pemuatan Palm Kernel Meal in Bulk di Pelabuhan KTMT Kuala Tanjung oleh PT. Seroja Jaya Agensi

This study aims to examine the bulk loading process of Palm Kernel Meal (PKM) at the KTMT Kuala Tanjung Port, managed by PT. Seroja Jaya Agensi, and to identify the obstacles encountered during loading operations as well as the measures taken to resolve them. A qualitative descriptive research method was employed, utilizing data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and document review.The results indicate that the bulk PKM loading process encompasses several stages: preparing vessel and cargo documentation; inspecting the readiness of the ship's holds; transporting PKM from the warehouse to the wharf by truck; weighing the cargo; transferring the cargo to a hopper or using a grab crane; loading the cargo into the ship's holds; performing trimming to level the cargo; and finalizing documentation upon completion of loading. However, several obstacles were encountered during operations—such as unfavorable weather conditions, delays in the arrival of transport trucks, malfunctions in loading equipment, and administrative delays—which could hinder the smooth execution of the loading process. Measures taken to address these issues included improving coordination among the parties involved, conducting regular equipment inspections and maintenance, effectively scheduling cargo shipments, and enhancing supervision throughout the loading process. Implementing these measures allows the bulk PKM loading process to proceed more effectively, efficiently, and safely, in compliance with established operational procedures.
