Abstract
This research aims to design and develop an Arduino-based chicken roasting machine to improve the efficiency of the roasting process and achieve more uniform cooking. Manual chicken roasting requires greater physical effort, takes relatively longer time, and may result in uneven cooking. The developed machine uses an Arduino Uno as the motor controller, a DC motor as the driving mechanism for the rotating system, sprockets and a chain as the transmission system, and a gas burner as the heat source. Testing was conducted using a chicken capacity of 9 kg with three variations of driving speed, namely 8 rpm, 22 rpm, and 27 rpm, and Oven temperatures of 150°C, 230°C, and 350°C, respectively. The test results showed that at a driving speed of 8 rpm and a temperature of 150°C, the roasting time was 63 minutes with an Electrical power consumption of 22 Watts. At 22 rpm and 230°C, the roasting time decreased to 41 minutes with a power consumption of 44 Watts, producing better and more uniform cooking. Meanwhile, at 27 rpm and 350°C, the roasting time decreased to 20 minutes with a power consumption of 48 Watts; however, some parts of the chicken showed a tendency to become overcooked or burnt. Based on the test results, a driving speed of 22 rpm and a temperature of 230°C provided the most suitable operating condition because it resulted in a shorter roasting time with more uniform cooking and reduced risk of burning.
