Abstract
This final project is part of a study aimed at examining the implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) measures during ship pilotage operations at Batu Ampar Port, conducted by PT Pelindo Jasa Maritim (Batam Branch). The study addresses two main issues: how OHS is implemented during the ship pilotage process at the company, and the measures taken to prevent workplace accidents during these operations. Data collection involved direct field observations, interviews with relevant parties, and document review, while data analysis employed a qualitative method with descriptive presentation. The results indicate that OHS implementation during ship pilotage at PT Pelindo Jasa Maritim (Batam Branch) includes hazard identification, risk assessment, the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), equipment suitability checks, the application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), pre-duty safety briefings, OHS training, and the provision of emergency response procedures. However, certain challenges remain that could increase the risk of workplace accidents, such as adverse weather conditions, slippery ship surfaces, and human factors related to compliance with safety procedures. The study concludes that while OHS implementation during ship pilotage at the company is functioning well, improvements are still needed regarding supervision, adherence to safety procedures, and the strengthening of the OHS culture.
